A look behind the transformer: How job fluent Pascal experienced technology at Scheidt in Arnstadt
What is really behind such inconspicuous transformer housings? And what is the day-to-day work of an electronics technician for industrial engineering like? To answer such questions Pascal - known as „Jobfluencer“ - to Arnstadt for a day to experience the company up close together with our colleagues from the electrical installation department. Who is Pascal and what does a „jobfluencer“ do?
Pascal Zopora - alias „The Jobfluencer“ - has specialised in getting a taste of different professions for a day at a time and sharing these experiences online. His target group is primarily young people who are looking for guidance after leaving school. With his format „1 day as ...“, he wants to show what tasks, challenges and opportunities are involved in a profession. So far, he has already looked inside numerous professions - from skilled trades to technical and industrial professions to those that are hardly known to many.

The day at Scheidt in Arnstadt - impressions & experiences
The day started in the morning with a tour of the production facility - an overview of how components and parts are turned into finished products. Pascal was right in the thick of it, instead of just being there.
Under the guidance of Michael (trained electronics technician) and Julian (second-year apprentice electronics technician for industrial engineering), he learnt what is important in this profession: care, technical understanding, precision and a sense of responsibility.
„It's really crazy - a transformer house looks super inconspicuous, but when you realise what's inside, it's really exciting. And the fact that the parts are built here in a huge hall - absolutely amazing, I wouldn't have had that on my radar!“ - Pascal Zopora
During the course of the day, it became clear what a central role transformer stations play in the entire electricity grid. They ensure that electrical energy is safely transformed from the high-voltage level down to medium and low voltage - so that electricity reaches households, companies and infrastructures reliably. Those who work here have a great responsibility: in the medium-voltage sector, it is not just about technology and precision, but also about safety and security of supply for many people. Even small mistakes can have far-reaching consequences, which is why expertise, diligence and teamwork are essential.
Apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial engineering
Pascal had already tested the electronics technician apprenticeship in his Jobfluencer format - but in a completely different environment. At Scheidt, he realised that it felt „like a completely different job“: the modern production hall offers protected working conditions, as well as structured processes and a decent salary.
