SCHEIDT is involved in the Oberlausitz energy and climate protection network.

So it made sense for us to join forces in a network of regional companies on the road to climate neutrality in order to discuss ideas for increasing energy efficiency, reducing energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions and to develop climate strategies together," says Georgine Scheidt, Managing Director of the company. The idea behind establishing small, strong networks of regional companies as such an initiative is to achieve the climate targets through more and more networks nationwide by all making a contribution to using energy efficiently and saving significant amounts of energy.
Increase energy efficiency, drive forward climate protection measures.
For the Managing Director of SCHEIDT, membership of the energy and climate protection network is a clear win-win strategy: "Energy efficiency means achieving potential savings. In 2022, we were able to save €22,000 despite a significant increase in energy costs. In percentage terms, that was a saving of 29.6 % in electrical energy and as much as 40.6 % in heating energy. This is all the more impressive when you consider that we achieved this with an extraordinary order situation and correspondingly high levels of operation. The output of stations at the Hoyerswerda plant also increased by 10 % in 2022!"
There are an astonishing number of ways to reduce energy consumption in the company.
SCHEIDT has looked at what, where and how energy can be saved across the plants. The first savings were made in the old oil heating systems, which were replaced by a state-of-the-art gas heating system - with the option of switching to green hydrogen at a later date, provided it is available and economical. The next energy-saving opportunity was found in old impact drills, outdated cable presses and power-hungry screwdrivers. All of these devices were replaced with new models. But that's not all:
